The Paradise

Verdict Good first half. Weak second half.
Srikanth Odela’s The Paradise, starring Nani as Jadal, is a period action drama set in 1980s Secunderabad. It follows a marginalized community fighting for respect and a place of their own. The film has scale and a solid cast, but it does not hold the same power from start to finish. The first half works.
The world is set up well, and Nani gives everything to the role. As Jadal, he looks raw, intense, and fully involved. That commitment is the biggest reason the opening works. Without him, the first half would not feel as strong.
Kayadu Lohar, as Subbalakshmi, does a good job in the role given to her. She stays natural and fits the character. Sonali Kulkarni, as Sammakka, Jadal’s mother, is even better. She brings real emotion to the part and makes the relationship feel genuine. It is one of the best performances in the film.Mohan Babu, as Shikanja Malik, is excellent. He plays the part with authority and ease. The role of Vikram Malik is written well, but Raghav Juyal does not fully fit it. The character needed more force, and that power never quite comes through.Sampoornesh Babu, who plays Biryani, does not get enough screen time. That feels like a missed chance. Priyadarshi’s MLA Shankaranna, a character inspired by K. Chandrashekar Rao, is a weak spot. It does not sit well in the story and feels out of place.
Anirudh Ravichander’s music is good in the first half. Aaya Sher and Yeshanagula were already hits, and they work well on screen. The interval background score is also strong. After that, the music drops. In the pre-climax and climax, the film uses Aaya Sher again almost directly, which feels lazy.
The second half is where the film slips. It becomes slow and less interesting. The story loses steam, and scenes start repeating the same ideas instead of moving forward. The first half feels alive. The second half does not.The Paradise has good things in it — Nani’s Jadal, Sonali Kulkarni’s Sammakka, Mohan Babu’s Shikanja Malik, and Anirudh’s early songs. But a film like this needed a stronger second half. That never comes. What you get is a good first half and a disappointing finish.
